OVERVIEW:
Away shirt from a World Cup campaign overshadowed by Diego Maradona being banned from the tournament after failing a drugs test after the opening game. The away shirt would be the final Argentina shirt worn by Maradona as his international career would come to an end with immediate effect. The kit was worn as Argentina dispatched of Greece winning 4-0, with Maradona scoring the third goal in between Gabriel Batistuta scoring a hattrick. The World Cup campaign would be an underwhelming one for the then Copa America champions as they would finish third in their group after a defeat to Bulgaria and would be bundled out in the last 16 at the hands of Romania. Despite having a talented squad with quality in all positions, the Argentines could never recover after the results of that ill-fated drugs test.
